Event Agenda

Leading & Sustaining a Coherent Vision for Mathematics Teaching & Learning
with Dr. Kanold

Our Focus: Learning how to monitor, provide feedback, & expect teacher actions so that all students learn!

You are the leader of your school. You expect a teacher team commitment to a professional learning process that becomes a public performance and leaves private practice in the dust. How do you do this? One way or the other, you are the reason things either get better or worse. These two days will be transformational and inspiring as you learn how to work collaboratively with others, monitor only for things (adult actions) that really matter in your school, and become confident in the nature of the tools and the feedback you use with those you lead. Whether it is students or adults, do you lead a culture that embraces mistakes, each and every day?

Each day, led by Dr. Kanold, will require you to reflect, examine and better understand the quality of the mathematics teaching and learning effort in your school. You will also have a chance at the end of each day to work with your district mathematics (MIC) leaders on your plans for 2015-2016. Please note this is not a “sit and git” workshop. It is a roll up your sleeves focus for your time, effort and expected mathematics performance for next year, and forever.

Materials to Gather

Dr. Kanold has planned an agenda that will lead you to reflect, examine and better understand the quality of the mathematics teaching and learning effort in your school. You will also have a chance at the end of each day to work with your district mathematics leaders (Math in Common Leadership Team) on your plans for 2015-2016. Please note this is not a “sit and git” workshop. It is a roll up your sleeves focus for your time, effort and expected mathematics performance for next year, and forever.

To that end, please do your best to bring the following items:

  1. Laptop computers with access to the district math curriculum maps
  2. 2-3 copies of recent unit tests given to the students in various grades and courses (at least 3 different sets of tests)
  3. 2-3 copies that describe how unit assessments are scored by the teacher team
  4. 2-3 copies of the Homework assignments and the Homework practices for various grade level or courses
  5. Copy (electronic or otherwise) of your district’s math plan
  6. Evidence of expected teacher team actions when a math unit ends and another unit begins
